Support our work
By leaving a legacy, you can help us to respond and serve the farming community long into the future.
A legacy left to a charity can ease the burden of Inheritance Tax and can ensure your gift keeps on making a difference for years to come. A legacy does not have to be large and it will not prevent you from providing for your family.
Every adult should have a Will, regardless of age, income or wealth. It is the only way to ensure your wishes are met after death. Yet, one in five people in the UK die without one, which can cause extra distress for loved ones.
If you are considering making a Will, it is important to use the services of a solicitor. If you already have a Will and you are considering making changes to it, your solicitor can advise on how this is usually done using a written instruction called a Codicil.
Here are four ways you can support our work by leaving a legacy:
A Residuary Gift
– the remainder of your estate after all payments and other bequests
A Pecuniary Gift
– a predetermined sum of money
A Specific Gift
– value (property, stocks and shares, etc)
A Reversionary Gift
– We will receive benefit after death of another beneficiary.
Leave a property
Given the long-term nature of our work, a legacy of property is particularly appropriate. Both houses and farms can help us to benefit families for future generations, including those in our Young Entrants Scheme.
Bequeath shares
We have a portfolio of shares, which provides income for our grant giving and is a long-term asset. All gifts of shares are welcome, including those in small quantities that would be uneconomic to sell.
