Addington Fund supports local schools for Coronation celebrations

Addington Fund has launched a “Be Kind With Bunting” campaign to help local schools brighten up their corridors and classrooms by donating lengths of brightly coloured knitted bunting.

Officially holding the Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Longest Knitted Bunting Line’ at a whopping 14,279m (that’s 9 kilometres long!), the bunting was donated by the Devon County Agricultural Association to the charity to help raise funds for their work supporting farmers, farm workers and rural communities.

Since 2022, Addington Fund has been selling smaller packs of the bunting through farm shops and online via the Addington Fund Shop. Last summer sales took off as communities celebrated the Platinum Jubilee, but with plenty of knitted flags to go around, the team wanted to find a way to distribute the bunting further.

Emily Egan from Addington Fund, said “We wanted to find a way to connect local schools with our work and what better way than to gift some of our lovely bunting! As a charity passionate about agriculture, we want to spread awareness of farming in schools but being such a small team we find it difficult to find the time to do this properly. Giving the schools our bunting with information about Addington Fund is the perfect way to spread the colourful joy and to also encourage future generations to support British agriculture.”

“The King’s Coronation is another cause for celebration and we hope that this bunting will brighten up the picnics and parties that schools are planning.”

Mrs Sarah Eadon, headteacher of Moreton Morrell CE Primary School, who has received 40m of the bunting said “We were delighted when Addington Fund contacted us to offer us some bunting. It’s a very thoughtful gesture and the children love the bright designs. We are hosting a whole school picnic and afternoon tea to celebrate the Coronation and this will certainly liven up the playground.”

Bunting has been delivered to 18 schools across the county and smaller packs are available to buy via the Addington Fund website - perfect for the parties, all celebrations, decoration and more.
