Addington Fund was honoured to welcome a very special guest to Whins Farm in Cumbria, as Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh officially opened the charity’s first starter farm and handed the keys to its new tenants, Kieran and Áine.

It has been another busy summer season for the Addington Fund team, who have been attending regional agricultural shows up and down England and Wales to spread the word of the farming charity and it’s 25th anniversary year.

The rural and farming charity Addington Fund has welcomed two new trustees to its board, with the appointment of, Jennie Wheildon and Alastair Brown strengthening the charity’s wealth of experience across the agricultural and rural sectors.

Addington Fund is delighted to announce that, as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, it will sponsor the ‘New Entrant to Agriculture Award’ at the British Farming Awards.

At Addington Fund, we know that many farming families across England and Wales are facing exceptionally difficult circumstances. The ongoing drought, combined with the impact of the bluetongue outbreak, is placing significant pressure on livestock farms and creating additional worries at an already challenging time.

Addington Fund is delighted to announce it has been awarded a £50,000 grant from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, continuing a longstanding partnership that has helped support farming families across England and Wales for 25 years.

In September last year we launched our new Entrant Scheme, in memory of former trustee Peter Jinman OBE, MRCVS, to encourage and enable the next generation of farmers to introduce fresh ideas and progressive thinking to UK agriculture.
