NFU Mutual Charitable Trust awards £50,000 to Addington Fund in 25th Anniversary year
Addington Fund is delighted to announce it has been awarded a £50,000 grant from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, continuing a longstanding partnership that has helped support farming families across England and Wales for 25 years.
Since Addington Fund was established in 2001, the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust has been one of the charity's most valued supporters, contributing more than £775,000 towards its work helping farming communities through times of crisis and supporting the next generation of farmers.
The latest grant will help fund two key areas of Addington Fund's work: providing emergency relief to farming families facing unexpected hardship and supporting the next generation of farmers through the charity's New Entrant Grant Scheme.
Addington Fund’s emergency relief, delivered through Forage Aid, exists to provide financial assistance to farming families affected by extreme weather, accident or illness, and certain animal disease outbreaks. These grants offer practical support at some of the most challenging times a farming business can face.
The New Entrant Grant Scheme helps individuals aged 18 to 40 to get a head start with their own farming ventures by providing grants towards equipment, initiatives and projects that improve the productivity, sustainability and long-term viability of their business, creating healthy farms, healthy livestock and healthy farmers.
In 2025, funding from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust helped 88 individuals. Their financial support contributed to Addington Fund being able to award more than £22,000 in emergency grants, while 27 new entrants shared grants totalling £60,500 to help establish and grow their farming businesses.
