Addington Fund Raises Over £10,500 at NFU Conference Dinner

Addington Fund is delighted to announce that more than £10,500 was raised at last week’s NFU Conference Dinner, thanks to the generosity of guests who took part in a special prize draw held on the evening.

Funds were raised through the sale of prize draw tickets, with a top cash prize of £250 up for grabs. The lucky winner not only took home the cash prize but also received the very first of Addington Fund’s special commemorative teddy bears, named “Terry” in honour of Terry Jones, Director General of the NFU.

The first bear was kindly sponsored by the NFU, with the remaining limited-edition bears set to be available to ‘rehome’ at Addington Fund events throughout the year. The handcrafted bears are made in Ironbridge by renowned British teddy bear manufacturer Merrythought and form part of the charity’s celebrations marking 25 years of supporting farmers across England and Wales.

Addington Fund was honoured to be chosen as the charity for the evening and extends its sincere thanks to the NFU and its staff for their generous support and for selecting the charity as the beneficiary of the prize draw at the dinner.

The charity would also like to thank the dedicated volunteers from the Farming Community Network (FCN) and Shakespeare Martineau, who gave their time to assist with the prize draw and collection on the night. Their enthusiasm and commitment were instrumental in helping to raise such a fantastic total.

The money raised will directly support Addington Fund’s work providing homes, emergency assistance and a New Entrant Scheme to support farming families in times of crisis.

Sue English, Fund Director at Addington Fund said, "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the prize draw so generously. Raising over £10,500 in one evening is a wonderful achievement and will make a meaningful difference to farming families in need. We are particularly pleased to launch our 25th anniversary teddy bears in such a special setting and thank the NFU for sponsoring the very first one."
